FigCraft Is Free and Open Source — Just Open Your Browser and Draw (2026-10)
People searching for a “Figma alternative” usually care about three things: can it replace Figma for free, how much work has to be migrated, and what about team collaboration. The short answer: it can replace Figma for solo UI mockups, but not real-time multiplayer collaboration.
This is an independent third-party guide, not an official site. FigCraft is free and open source; please download it through official channels.
Figma vs FigCraft: the whole comparison in one table
| Dimension | Figma | FigCraft |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free tier has file and collaboration limits; teams need a subscription | Free and open source, no account system |
| Install required? | Browser or desktop client | Web version needs no install or signup; desktop version also available |
| Where files live | In the cloud, synced across devices by default | Only in your local browser; gone when you close the tab |
| Collaboration | Real-time collaboration, comments, team component libraries | None — the biggest gap |
| UI language | Chinese | English |
| Export | Multiple formats, asset slicing | Tested: Export page as PNG |
| Plugin ecosystem | Mature plugin marketplace | None |
| Maturity | Commercial product, years of iteration | Officially labeled early alpha, updated weekly |
FigCraft details on this page were tested by us on the official web version on 2026-10-21; Figma details reflect its public product offering and were not tested item by item.
What it cannot replace (read this before deciding)
- Real-time multiplayer collaboration and comments (there is no server)
- Team component libraries / design system management
- Plugin ecosystem
- Completeness of asset slicing and multi-format export
Migration cost: three steps to decide whether to switch
- Try one real screen first: set the frame size → place components → adjust stroke and fill → export PNG, and see whether it is enough.
- Agree on the “solo local file” boundary: keep files that need collaboration in Figma, and do not edit in both places.
- Export for the record: files disappear when the tab closes, so export important work on the spot, or use the desktop version to save local files.
Who it is for / who it is not for
- Good for: people drawing solo app/web UI mockups, those who want to try a Figma-style workflow with zero install, those comfortable with an English UI, and anyone whose files do not involve collaboration.
- Not for: team delivery, workflows that depend on cloud component libraries and plugins, or formal projects that need a Chinese UI.
Honest limits: FigCraft is currently early alpha, updated weekly by the official team, and features will change. The UI is mostly English (PdfCraft renders Chinese as boxes). Work in the online version lives only in the browser and is lost when the tab closes.
