PowerPoint Alternative Tested: DeckCraft Does Not Load Yet - Skip It (2026)
This page concludes the opposite of the others: DeckCraft cannot be your delivery tool yet. We tested the official web build v0.9.0 on 2026-10-21: after 26 seconds it was still on "Loading DeckCraft..." with one JS error in the console. The other nine apps in the same batch reached their workspace within 26 seconds under identical conditions, so the problem is likely in the app, not the environment.
Independent third-party directory, not the official site. DeckCraft is free and open source; always download from official channels.
Microsoft PowerPoint vs DeckCraft at a glance
| Dimension | Microsoft PowerPoint | DeckCraft |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Subscription | Free and open source (but unusable right now) |
| Install | Desktop client / web | Official web build needs no install or sign-up; desktop build untested |
| Launch time (tested) | A few seconds | Still on Loading after 26 seconds, never reached the editor |
| Console errors | - | 1 JS error (pageerror) |
| Payload | - | 29 MiB wasm (about 11 MiB gzipped) - the size does not explain 26 seconds with no UI |
| Templates / export / collaboration | Template gallery, multi-format export, co-editing | Unverified (could not get in) |
| Usable for delivery today | Yes | No |
The DeckCraft side was tested on 2026-10-21 with the official web build v0.9.0 in snap Chromium; the PowerPoint side is described from its public product shape. Another browser or a newer version may differ, and we will retest.
What it cannot replace (read this first)
- In this round: everything - it never reached the editor, so there is nothing to compare
- The desktop build was not tested, so we cannot claim it is broken
- A later version may fix it; this conclusion holds only for v0.9.0 in this environment
Switching cost: three steps to decide
- Need slides today: use PowerPoint, WPS, Google Slides or Canva.
- Bookmark this page and come back after a DeckCraft release; we will retest.
- Do not bet delivery on a tool that will not open just because it is free.
Who it fits / who it does not
- Good for: People tracking the project who are willing to wait for a release.
- Not for: Anyone who has to hand in a deck today.
