TextureCraft: free alternative to Substance Painter — online / desktop
It fills a gap in the ArtCraft suite: 3D texturing. The core pipeline (import model -> layered texturing -> baking -> engine export) now works end-to-end, but it is still early: texture library, tutorials, team pipeline and Substance ecosystem compatibility will take time.

Hands-on test (2026-11-02, v0.2.0)
- Official web build launches: the sample-sphere scene renders normally, with 0 JS errors and 0 failed requests (hands-on Chromium test, 2026-11-02)
- Falls back to WebGL2 automatically when WebGPU is unavailable (CPU path tracing, slower); a notice appears at the top but the app still works
- Chinese UI; the web bundle is about 7.8 MB, in the lightweight tier
- Still an early release: texture library, tutorials and team pipeline are being filled in

Best for
- Indie developers, game jams, and anyone who wants to put PBR materials on a self-made model quickly; people already using Godot or a custom engine who need ORM textures.
Not for
- Projects that depend on Substance's smart-material library, need team collaboration/version control, or must deliver film-grade assets.

How to get started
- Click "Use online" above — it runs in your browser, no signup required.
- Run the full workflow (open → edit → export) on a throwaway file first, to confirm format compatibility.
- Once you accept its limits, migrate your daily workflow; keep the original software as a fallback for critical deliverables.
